Eat Your Oatmeal

My Mom must have known about the benefits of eating rolled oats, because I remember her encouraging my siblings and I to eat oatmeal for breakfast. Her claim was that it would keep us feeling full, because it “sticks to our ribs.” Well, maybe not our ribs, but according to an article I read recently on healthline.com, titled “9 Health Benefits of Eating Oats and Oatmeal,” the beta-gluten found in oats dissolves in water to form a thick, gel-like solution in the gut. Which, in addition to other health benefits, can keep us feeling full.

If you’re like me however, and don’t like the mushy texture of oatmeal, An Average Jill Sunrise and Moon Mix granola are a great way to reap the benefits of oats, since the primary ingredient in An Average Jill granola is whole grain rolled oats. If you do like mushy oatmeal…lol…try adding hot water or milk to the Sunrise Mix to make a hot breakfast cereal.
